“Republicans for Foster” Come Together for Change in 14th

Broad appeal of scientist & businessman demonstrated by endorsement from across the aisle

(Elgin, IL) – Demanding a problem solver who will work to end the partisan bickering in Washington, a group of Republican residents of Illinois’ 14th congressional district today endorsed Bill Foster in next Saturday’s special election.

Republicans for Foster eschewed party allegiances to support Foster because they see him as possessing the experience, background, and roots in the community to represent 14th residents of all political stripes. Foster – a Democrat -- joined the group of Republicans today at Elgin Community College.

“During this campaign, Republicans and independents who want change and are tired of politics-as-usual have been strongly supporting me," Foster said.

Don Cassiday, a retired Air Force Colonel from Aurora, stood with Foster several weeks ago to announce his endorsement.

“I’m here not as a retired Colonel, but as a retired Republican,” Cassiday said at the time. “Bill Foster is clearly the candidate who will make us proud as he represents the 14th district. He is the kind of man our nation needs in Washington, and I happily depart from my Republican roots to support him.”

The special election to fill the seat vacated by former Republican Speaker of the House Dennis Hastert is next Saturday, March 8.
