Foster offers the best hope for Democrats

(BEACON NEWS) —If the Democrats plan to break the Republican hold on the 14th Congressional District after 21 years of leadership from former school teacher and House Speaker Dennis Hastert, the party needs a moderate nominee who will take a logical approach to complex issues and bring an open mind to Washington. That candidate is retired Fermilab scientist Bill Foster, who we endorse in the Feb. 5 regular and special primary elections.

None of the Democratic candidates have significant experience in elected office. Any of them will face a serious challenge to win this traditionally Republican House seat. The question for Democratic voters in the primary election is: Who has the best chance to pull off the upset?

The answer, unequivocally, is Bill Foster.
