The War in Iraq
We need to end our involvement in the war in Iraq, and begin bringing home our men and women in uniform. They have done all that has been asked of them, and our soldiers are not the answer to a religious and sectarian civil war. We now need a political solution, not a military one. | More
Financial Responsibility
The financial irresponsibility of the federal government during the last 6 years of Republican rule has been breathtaking. A projected 10-year 10-trillion dollar surplus inherited from the Clinton Administration has been reversed and turned into a $9 trillion dollar deficit. For American families, the health care crisis is fundamentally an affordability crisis. If they are not covered by their employer or a government program, they face tremendous health insurance costs. If families are covered by their employers, they face ever-mounting co-payments and benefit reductions. And for American business, the cost or providing coverage to their employees is putting tremendous pressure on their ability to compete with foreign competitors. | More
Repairing a Dysfunctional Congress
The Congress of the United States is not broken, but it has been crippled by years of neglect. I know from the brief few months working in a small office of a dedicated freshman Congressman that individual members can make a difference. The Congress must be strengthened one member at a time. | More
