IL-14: Bill Foster Releases Energy Plan
“We need to get back into the business of solving problems”
Geneva, IL – Today businessman and scientist Bill Foster began the release of several policy platforms that address the lack of problem solving in Washington DC. Foster's Innovating to Solve Problems platform begins with energy policy.
"Our growing dependence on energy from imported oil and natural gas has been an urgent but neglected problem for decades and this administration has failed to even address the problem. In fact, we are currently spending more on the war in Iraq than we have spent on energy research throughout the history of our country" said Foster.
"We need to get back into the business of solving problems. As a scientist and businessman, I plan on using my background, knowledge and experience to face the environmental and energy challenges of the 21st century. We must aggressively combat climate change, reduce our dependence on foreign oil, and promote cleaner and more economical sources of energy," he concluded.
Foster's plan highlights near-term and long-term solutions to the problems we face in climate change and energy independence:
• Allocation and management of US energy resources and R&D.
• Energy conservation policies that make sense
• Investing in promising areas of research and development
• Stabilization of oil and gas prices
• Establishing a worldwide market for CO2 emission and green house gasses
• Responsible development of biofuels
• Promoting worldwide responsibility in the climate change debate
Finally, Bill's energy policy paper includes his positions on global warming and nuclear power. The full policy brief can be found at http://www.foster08.com/news/issues.cfm?id=3
