Ronald Reagan’s hometown Mayor endorses Democrat Bill Foster
Jim Burke throws weight behind businessman and scientist in IL-14
Geneva, IL -- Today, Jim Burke announced his endorsement of Bill Foster for Congress. Burke is mayor of Dixon, IL, which is the hometown of former President Ronald Reagan.
"Bill knows that we need to change Washington so there is less bickering and more problem solving," said Burke. "His background as a businessman and scientist makes him just the man to bring about that change."
Dixon, located 100 miles west of Chicago, is the boyhood home of President Ronald Reagan. Burke, a Democrat, was elected mayor in 1999.
"Bill Foster knows how to help small towns by helping small businesses grow, because he's done it himself," said Burke. "He'll be a strong voice in Washington representing our small town interests."
"Mayor Burke being a Democrat in Ronald Reagan's boyhood hometown shows that the tide is turning in this district," Foster said. "If you focus on solutions, on looking at the facts and deciding what is the best course of action, you can get real results. And that's what people want, not more partisanship and gridlock. That's what I'll bring to Washington."
The endorsement caps off a big week for Foster. Quarterly FEC reports showed he out-raised his Democratic opponents' yearly total in the 3rd Quarter alone. On Wednesday, Foster received the endorsement of Dan Hynes, Comptroller of the state of Illinois.
"Every day this campaign gets stronger," Foster said. "People want change. And that's what our campaign offers."
